Naepo Bobusang Village in Yesan With Kids: A Day of Joseon-Era Hands-On Fun

Naepo Bobusang Village

We took our child to Naepo Bobusang Village in Yesan, South Chungcheong Province.

Village entrance

It’s a traditional theme park where you can see, learn about and experience the life and culture of the bobusang, the traveling peddlers of the Joseon era.

It combines history, hands-on activities and play, so it was a great place to visit with kids.

What Is Naepo Bobusang Village?

Bobusang refers to the bundle peddlers and back-pack peddlers who traveled the country selling goods during the Joseon Dynasty.

Their center was the Naepo region of Yesan.

Built on this history, Naepo Bobusang Village

is a traditional culture village that recreates an old market scene.

Market town

For kids, it becomes a living history lesson where they can see and experience the Joseon market culture from their textbooks.

Top 4 Activities With Kids

1. Yesan Bobusang Museum

Bobusang Museum

The museum recreates the tools, clothing and market scenes of the peddlers.

With VR and AR zones, a 4D theater and a peddler pack-carrying experience,

kids learn history like a game without a dull moment.

Walking with a real A-frame carrier on your back is especially popular with elementary schoolers.

2. Market Street and Festival Grounds

In the middle of the market street there’s a lawn and rest area, good for a family picnic or a break.

Market performance

Occasionally there are performances themed on a five-day market, giving a truly lively atmosphere.
