The Vatican Picture Gallery: Medieval Paintings

The way into the picture gallery. They say it holds many artworks from the medieval period onward.

Medieval paintings of saints… saints have a round golden halo behind their heads. Each saint has distinctive features, always shown with the same attributes in every painting. I heard a lot of explanations, but it was so long ago that I have forgotten most of it.
The saint holding keys is Peter. The saint holding a red thread on his body is Saint Francis, and so on. Each saint has characteristic features in paintings. This is how medieval painting expressed things.

A photo in front of the medieval hall. Generally golden backgrounds with round golden halos behind the saints’ heads… that is the hallmark of medieval painting.

Changed painting styles… In this era, blush on the cheeks was the point! In this era they painted on stone slabs, plaster or limestone… was it the fresco technique?

Was it Impressionism… another technique of an era… I saved the image quality wrong so the photo came out broken.

They said both the upper and lower ones were some saints… who went into a cave… made the Bible… eyes shining… it was always the saint shown with a lion, but I do not remember the name.

A photo I felt proud of while looking at the physique, woohoo~ I saved it wrong again so the quality is broken.
