New York Café Budapest: Menu Picks, Waiting Tips and Photo Spots

New York Café Budapest

One of the most memorable spots on our trip to Budapest, Hungary, was

New York Café entrance

the New York Café. Its title as “the world’s most beautiful cafe” is well earned. The moment you step inside,

the space is so overwhelming you feel like you’re in a European palace.

With art-like classic interiors, live classical music and sweet desserts, it’s not just a cafe but a work of art.

1. New York Café Budapest: More Splendid Than a Palace

Anantara New York Palace

The New York Café is on the ground floor of the Anantara New York Palace Hotel.

The exterior mixes classic Baroque and Renaissance styles, while the interior

Chandeliers

is full of golden lights and chandeliers.

Frescoes, statues and ceiling decorations felt like a European royal banquet hall moved here intact.

Live music stage

What impressed me most was the live music.

Gypsy or classical music plays every evening, and in that moment a cup of coffee

Musicians

becomes an artistic experience with music.

Forget your travel fatigue for a while and let the music in the golden hall carry you away.

Tips to Beat the Queue at New York Café Budapest: Arrive at Opening!

Queue outside

Tourists from all over the world flock here, so there’s always a long line.

I visited around 10 a.m. and waited about 20 minutes.

* Morning visit (recommended!)

It opens at 8 a.m.; arrive at least 15–20 minutes early and you can walk right in.

You can’t reserve mornings, so an early visit is best if you want in fast.

* Evening visit (reservation essential)

For dinner or tea time, you can book on the official website.

After 6 p.m., you can enjoy live performances, and the atmosphere is even better.

(Reservations only for tables of 10 or fewer)

While waiting, explore the lobby or outdoor garden. The space itself is a photo spot.

New York Café Menu Recommendations

Coffee and dessert

Coffee and desserts in such a splendid space are more about the experience than taste, but they were genuinely delicious.

Here are my picks based on what I tried.

Iced cappuccino

Iced cappuccino

It’s also available with 24K gold flakes.

Soft cream and deep coffee aroma capture the cafe’s elegance.

(About 10 euros, atmosphere included)

Iced chocolate

Rich chocolate with smooth milk leaves a sweet finish.

Sipping chocolate under palace lights felt like a movie scene.

Berry sorbet cup

Berry sorbet cup

This is the one I recommend most.

Tangy raspberry and lemon sorbet pair perfectly with sweet coffee.

It comes with fresh berries and mint leaves, so it looks great too.

Note: A 15% service charge is added automatically to the bill.

Photo Spots

Balcony view

Every corner of New York Café Budapest is photogenic, but remember these three.

1. 2nd-floor balcony view: Capture the golden ceiling and chandeliers in one frame.

Marble staircase

2. Central staircase: Walking down the ornate marble stairs makes a movie-like shot.

3. Ceiling fresco angle: Lift your coffee cup slightly with the ceiling behind you for a dreamy shot.

Semi-formal outfits or dresses work better than casual wear.

The soft reflected light makes a real difference in photo quality.

The New York Café Budapest isn’t just a place to drink coffee; it’s where you sip European art and history.

It may feel pricey, but here the experience is worth more than the price.

Arrive at opening to skip the queue and start your day with live music and sweet desserts.

In that moment, your Budapest trip becomes deeper and more special.

Prices, hours and details in this post are from our visit in October 2025 and may have changed, so check the latest information before you go.
