Harukas 300 Observatory in Osaka: Tickets, Hours, Floor Guide and Sunset Tips

Harukas 300 observatory

This post introduces the Harukas 300 observatory, Osaka’s best viewpoint and a must on any Osaka trip.

It’s more than looking down at the city from up high;

it’s a place where Osaka’s day and night unfold before your eyes.

I’ve covered booking, admission, hours, photo spots on each floor and my own review.

Osaka’s Landmark: What Is Abeno Harukas?

Abeno Harukas building

“Harukas” means “to clear up” in old Japanese.

True to its name, on clear days you can see all the way to Kyoto, Awaji Island and Kansai Airport.

The building sits at Tennoji Station, a transport hub in southern Osaka, so it’s very easy to reach.

Address: 1-1-43 Abenosuji, Abeno-ku, Osaka

Getting there:

* Directly connected from Exit 9 of JR and Osaka Metro Tennoji Station

* Also directly linked to Kintetsu Osaka-Abenobashi Station

You can use underground passages even on rainy days.

Hours: 09:00–22:00 (last entry 21:30)

Hours may change during seasonal night events or media shows.

Booking tips

1. Online booking sites like Klook and KKday

* Cheaper than on-site, with instant entry by QR voucher

* Clear Korean-language guidance makes it convenient.

2. Booking on the official website

* Pick your date and time in advance for guaranteed entry

* Sunset slots often sell out early, so book a week ahead to be safe.

On-site steps

Exchange for a paper ticket at the 16th-floor counter, then take the express elevator (about 50 seconds to the 60th floor).

Express elevator

As the elevator shoots up and the Osaka skyline spreads out before you,

First view from the top

I still vividly remember my child shouting, “Wow, it feels like we’re above the clouds!”

Harukas 300 Floor by Floor

60th Floor: A 360-Degree Panorama in the Sky

60th-floor corridor

This is the heart of the observatory and the most popular floor.

Floor-to-ceiling glass on all sides shows Osaka’s lively downtown by day and endless waves of light by night.

On clear days you can see Kyoto’s mountains and the Kansai Airport runway.

City panorama

Photo spots

* West windows: Osaka glowing red at sunset

* South corridor: the “river of light” as city lights stretch out at night

Sunset from the west windows

It doesn’t feel like just an observatory but like standing in a garden in the sky.

Kids by the window

Taking photos with my child among the clouds, I almost forgot reality for a moment.

59th Floor: Abeno Bear Goods and a Restroom With a View

The 59th floor has a goods shop for Abeno Bear, the mascot of Harukas.

It’s a great corner to pick up a plush toy or keychain for kids.

This floor also has what travelers call “the restroom with the best view in the world.”

One whole wall is glass, so you can take in the city view while you use it.

Many people visit it on purpose just to take photos.

58th Floor: Sky Garden 300, a Rest Stop in the Sky

Sky Garden 300

The 58th floor is a wide open space linking indoors and outdoors,

Cafe counter

where the Sky Garden 300 cafe and dining area serves drinks, beer and light desserts.

Night lights

At night, floor lights and wall media shows switch on, transforming the whole space.

A coffee on the outdoor terrace in the Osaka breeze melts away travel fatigue.

Tip:

Enter about an hour before sunset to see three skies: daytime, sunset and night view.

The moment sunset light reflects on the glass is truly “Harukas magic time.”

Edge the Harukas: Walking 300 Meters Above the Ground

Edge the Harukas

If you love adventure, don’t miss Edge the Harukas.

You walk along a narrow ledge about 60 cm wide at the edge of Harukas 300,

feeling the thrill of being 300 meters up with your whole body.

* Price: about 1,000 yen (observatory admission separate)

* Booking: advance registration on the official website required

* Requirements: at least 145 cm tall and under 100 kg

* Gear: safety harness and helmet provided on site

When you walk it yourself, the city beyond the glass

feels close enough to touch, a thrilling scene you’ll never forget.

Harukas 300 at Its Best: Golden Hour Strategy

Golden hour

The most beautiful time at Harukas 300 is dusk.

The windows turn gold and the city begins to sparkle with lights.

Night view

Tips

* Enter an hour before sunset to enjoy both the sunset and the night view

* A smartphone night mode beats a tripod for minimizing reflections indoors

* The south side of the observatory is the most popular photo spot

The moment the elevator doors opened and we stood before the 60th-floor glass,
