We came to Dochon-dong raw fish street in Tongyeong with one mission: mulhoe. Huirak, a short walk from the Tongyeong passenger terminal, is the kind of place that earns trust fast, and its Tongyeong mulhoe was the highlight of our food stops.
The restaurant
Huirak hangs a banner noting a TV feature, which made us slightly nervous, but the warm staff and fair prices won us over quickly.

Mulhoe and hoe-deopbap
We ordered mulhoe and hoe-deopbap. The side dishes arrived first and tasted better than expected, followed by a complimentary spicy fish soup that impressed even my picky husband.

Then came the mulhoe, looking icy and refreshing, and the hoe-deopbap beside it.

My first-ever Tongyeong mulhoe turned out sweet, tangy, and not fishy at all. The hoe-deopbap was good too, but the mulhoe won our vote by a clear margin.
