Jeju Travel with a 16-Month-Old: Jeju Shinhwa World, Samgeori Butcher, Jeju Pork, Day 1

My husband wants to play in the water longer

I looked at the clock and it was 7:30

My parents-in-law must be hungry too

I think our little one must be hungry too, so I quickly looked for a place to eat nearby

Samgeori Butcher had decent reviews

Since we came all the way to Jeju, I thought it would be good to try Jeju pork, so I visited

Shinhwa World has a lot of diverse things to enjoy, from convenience stores to restaurants, cafes, and duty-free shops, making it a great place for kids

I heard it was built with Chinese capital

It really had a strong mainland vibe

It felt a bit like Universal too.

If you go to the Shinhwa World theme park

​

You’ll find a theme park and a street of restaurants around it

A samgeori will appear

There are still many places that haven’t opened yet

It’s beautifully constructed, but it’s still under construction, which is a bit disappointing

There’s still no Asian food available

I’ll have to visit again when it’s available

I came wanting to try Jeju pork but

Lunch menu looked good because there were things for the baby to eat too

Blogger praised the taste highly

I came in to try

but I have nothing to feed the baby for dinner –

Most pork restaurants in Jeju grill the meat themselves

When I visited a few different places

I was impressed by the service

But the meat cooking service here was not great at all

They didn’t cook it well, made it all burnt

Even when I called, they didn’t come –

The taste of pork has been unforgettable every time I’ve come to Jeju

I shouldn’t be thinking of the Jeju pork I’ve eaten before

​

By my standards, it wasn’t very tasty

This pork rice is spicy

If the cast iron plate is peeling, it leaves a metallic taste while eating.

My husband says he doesn’t know

I wonder if I am sensitive

In the end, there was nothing for my little one to eat here

So I went to a convenience store to buy some broth

And mixed it with rice

I quickly took some mama milk and fed my little one

Surprisingly, they ate it well

What’s this

Normally they don’t eat well, must have been the side dishes in the market

Still, with my parents-in-law around, I didn’t have to take care of my little one

I had no idea how much my parents-in-law’s presence mattered

My parents-in-law came a day earlier, and it was just my husband and me taking care of the baby, and I thought I was going to pass out, haha

Thanks to my mother-in-law feeding Yans well

Yans was able to eat three hearty meals

​

The Samgeori Butcher was mostly disappointing

​

I am 100% willing to visit Shinhwa World again

0% willingness to revisit Samgeori Butcher

I’d rather eat outside
