Yeongdeok With Kids: A One-Day Gyeongbuk Route With Parks, Cup Mulhoe, Crafts and the Blue Road

Yeongdeok, set against the blue East Sea, is a great place to travel with kids. With sculptures, exhibits and hands-on activities, it offers both relaxation and fun, and here’s the route we took visiting Yeongdeok with kids in November 2024.

Yeongdeok with kids: Yeongdeok

1. Haeparang Park

Our first stop in Yeongdeok was Haeparang Park.

Haeparang Park

It’s a park full of playground equipment and fun sculptures set against the sea.

The giant snow crab sculpture makes a perfect photo spot.

There’s plenty of space, easy parking and even an EV charging station, so it’s a great place for a family break.

Haeparang Park sits right by the sea, and watching the high waves of the East Sea was so refreshing.

With lots of play equipment, kids lose track of time while adults relax by the sea. As of 2024, the rocking horses and carts cost 7,000 won for unlimited rides, and there’s a cute character playground too. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Yeongdeok with kids.

2. Naesone Ssok Mulhoe

After all that playing, we got hungry. Naesone Ssok Mulhoe is a six-minute drive from Haeparang Park.

We had lunch here. You can eat in or order cup mulhoe to go.

Cup mulhoe

You have to try the cup mulhoe!

True to its name, it’s cold raw fish soup served in a cup, packed with generous slices of fish and delicious. As of 2024 it was just 8,000 won, amazing value.

It was Yans’s first mulhoe, and my husband still talks about wanting more. The broth is mild, cool and sweet, with thick slices of fish and a huge portion.

We found this spot through the Digital Tourist Resident Card app while planning, and it turned out to be a great choice. Showing the card even got us a free drink. A meal of fresh seafood by the sea was the perfect taste of Yeongdeok.

3. Sewing Farmer Craft Workshop

For a special hands-on activity in Yeongdeok with kids, try the Sewing Farmer workshop. I booked by phone for 2 p.m. and headed there right after lunch.

Showing the Digital Tourist Resident Card app gets you 10 percent off here too.

Workshop inside

The workshop is set inside a greenhouse, and it’s a popular spot for families to make their own door bells.

You can choose the animal shape. I made a Yeongdeok snow crab, and Yans picked his favorite animal, a cat. As of 2024 the door bell class cost about 15,000 to 18,000 won per person, even cheaper with the discount.

Choosing shapes

It’s mostly painting, so it’s easy for kids, and the teacher helped along the way.

Crafting together

Making something by hand together was so much fun, and bringing it home keeps the memories alive.

It’s affordable, and there’s a free exhibition space too, making it ideal for families with kids. Look how well they turned out!

They also served drinks and snacks, so time flew as we chatted and crafted.

There’s even a fishing play area, and Yans had a blast. As of 2024, installing the All That Stamp app and collecting the stamp here also earned a 5,000-won convenience store voucher.

4. Blue Road Course B

After lunch and crafts, we walked Course B of the Blue Road, Yeongdeok’s signature coastal trail.

Blue Road

Starting at Nomul Port makes it easy to find the way, and there’s parking right in front.

Nomul Port

Climb the stone steps beside Nomul Port to reach the trail. It started drizzling, so we set off in raincoats.

Running along the East Sea, Course B is a popular trail for its beautiful scenery.

We walked from Nomul Port to the Seokdong breakwater, about 3 km. The path is well maintained and easy for young kids, with the sea and nature right beside you.

With waves crashing right next to us, it became an unforgettable memory for both of us.

There’s also a barefoot pebble path, and I would have walked it barefoot if not for the rain.

We used the Walk On app to record our distance, which made the hike even more meaningful. We completed about 80 percent of the course. It’s easy enough for children, so I highly recommend it for hiking in Yeongdeok with kids.

There are great photo spots along the way, so be sure to take some pictures.

5. Yeongdeok Haemaji Park

Our last stop was Haemaji Park.

Haemaji Park

It’s one of the best spots to watch the sun set over the sea.

With sculptures and exhibits plus sea views, it’s a great place for families to relax.

Viewpoint

The rain came and went, and a rainbow appeared over the sea. We were so lucky!

We ended the day watching the sun slowly sink into the sea.

There’s a snack shop next to the park, and the fish cakes in crab broth are a must.

Our day in Yeongdeok with kids let us enjoy activities, great food and nature all in one route, and using apps like the Digital Tourist Resident Card, All That Stamp and Walk On made it even better.

A trip to Yeongdeok with kids makes a perfect family getaway by the East Sea, with spaces for children and relaxing spots for adults. I highly recommend it.
