During a 2024 trip to Tokyo, we spent time in Yokohama. Yokohama is a charming city that pairs perfectly with a Tokyo trip, and in this post I’ll introduce Yokohama Minato Mirai Manyo Club, which you can even visit as a day trip from Tokyo. Manyo Club feels as comfortable as home and has plenty of facilities, so Yans and I had a really special time.

Manyo Club is about a 10-minute walk from Yokohama Station, and the walk offers lovely city views. The quiet, clean streets reminded me of Songdo in Korea.

As of 2024, check-in for rooms started at 5 p.m., but the hot spring is open 24 hours, so a day trip just for the onsen works perfectly.
1. Rooms at Manyo Club

The rooms blend traditional Japanese and modern design.

Room types range from traditional tatami rooms to modern Western-style rooms, so the whole family can rest comfortably.

Our group stayed in a tatami room and a Western-style room, and both were cozy enough to relax in for half a day. The bedding is soft and amenities are provided, but note that some tatami rooms don’t have a private bathroom. It’s an easy walk from the station, so getting here from Tokyo is simple.

From the room, you can see Yokohama’s night view, and the glowing city at night is magical. The room was so cozy I wanted to stay in all day.
2. A Real Onsen With Atami and Yugawara Spring Water
Being able to enjoy a real hot spring in the middle of Yokohama is Manyo Club’s biggest draw.

Yukata are provided when you use the baths, so you get the full traditional onsen experience.

Spring water from Atami and Yugawara onsen is brought in daily, so you can enjoy a traditional Japanese onsen in the heart of the city.

There are many types of baths, so everyone in the family can enjoy their favorite, and my skin felt silky smooth afterward. My nephew, a middle schooler, joined us and it was his first onsen. He loved it and said it would be a trip to remember. Resting by the window with a view of Yokohama’s waterfront after the bath was pure bliss.

There’s also a ganbanyoku stone sauna, similar to a Korean dry sauna, available for a small extra fee. It’s great for a healthy sweat.

You come out feeling refreshed, and it’s popular with locals too.
3. Facilities for the Whole Family
Beyond the onsen, Manyo Club has plenty of facilities that make it ideal for family trips.
Manga Corner

The manga corner is perfect for passing time after a bath, with a huge selection for the whole family.

Reading Japanese manga is another fun part of the trip, and you can even read in reclining chairs.
Game Corner
Manyo Club also has games for kids and adults.

There are plenty of games to enjoy together after a bath, and the kids loved it. We tried the claw machines and Taiko no Tatsujin.

There’s a kids’ area for little ones as well.
Massage

Massage services help ease travel fatigue, with options from Japanese-style massage to other programs. There’s also foot massage, a real treat on a Japan trip with lots of walking.
Relaxation Room

After the bath, head to the relaxation room. Sitting in a comfy chair with your eyes closed melts away fatigue, and our family rested there for a long time before our next plans. Day-trip visitors can relax here too, which is a handy tip.
4. Restaurant and Breakfast Buffet
The food at Manyo Club is excellent, with Japanese dishes made from fresh ingredients.

The seafood melts in your mouth, and alongside sashimi and sushi, you can relax over a cold beer. We ordered sashimi, eel rice, chicken karaage and side dishes, and the prices were reasonable, so I recommend eating here on an onsen trip. There’s a wide choice of beer, sours and highballs, and we finished with traditional Japanese sweets.

There’s a kids’ menu served on an Anpanman tray, so order it if you’re traveling with children.

In the morning, there’s a breakfast buffet with fresh vegetables, fruit, bread and Japanese breakfast dishes for a hearty start.

Breakfast even includes sushi, grilled dishes and a hot pot you cook yourself, with enough variety to satisfy the whole family.
5. Rooftop Foot Bath and the Cosmo World Ferris Wheel
The real highlight of Manyo Club is the rooftop foot bath, with the Yokohama Cosmo World Ferris wheel right in front of you.

Soaking your feet while gazing at the Ferris wheel feels like a dream.

At night, the colorful lights make the Ferris wheel look like it’s dancing across the sky.

Watching the night view from the foot bath became an unforgettable memory for our family. On clear days you can sometimes see Mount Fuji, so with luck you’ll get a bonus view. If you visit Manyo Club, be sure to take night photos from the rooftop foot bath.
6. Things to Do Near Manyo Club

While staying at Manyo Club, explore Yokohama’s sights. I especially recommend the Red Brick Warehouse, a renovated warehouse filled with shops and restaurants, with plenty of places for local craft beer.

Yamashita Park and Yokohama Chinatown are nearby too, so explore Yokohama on foot.

Yokohama Minato Mirai Manyo Club is a perfect place to relax and enjoy both traditional and modern Japan in the city. It’s about 60 minutes by limousine bus from Haneda Airport, and Cosmo World, Yokohama cruises, Yamashita Park and Chinatown are all nearby. A day-trip onsen is great, but staying the night to enjoy it slowly is also highly recommended.
Prices, hours and details in this post are from our visit in September 2024 and may have changed, so check the latest information before you go.
