Goseong Two-Day Trip: Danghangpo, Coastal Night Walks, Local Food and a Farm Pond Class

Goseong two-day trip: Goseong coastline

This Goseong two-day trip covers the Dinosaur Expo, local restaurants, the Rainbow Coastal Road at night and a dumbeong eco program held on November 9.

Day 1: Dinosaur Traces and Goseong’s Coastal Scenery

1. Donghae Sunrise Park

Donghae Sunrise Park

(Sunrise viewing and coastal drive, about 1.5 hours)

Our Goseong two-day trip began at Donghae Sunrise Park in Donghae-myeon.

Sea view from the park

It’s a quiet spot facing the South Sea, with cool wind blowing along the coastline.

Dinosaur sculptures symbolizing Goseong greet you at the entrance, and the glass observation deck and deck trails are well kept, easy to walk with a child.

Rather than flashy decorations, it’s about enjoying nature as it is, and we could see why it’s long been loved for New Year sunrises.

2. Lunch: Sashimi Set Meal at Suyang Sikdang

(Local restaurant, about 1 hour)

A neighborhood restaurant with decades of experience, and a must on any Goseong two-day trip.

The 8,000-won sashimi set is simple, but the generous wild sashimi was very satisfying.

The side dishes were neat, with the honest feel of an old local restaurant.

It had the atmosphere of a place locals actually eat, not tourist pricing.

3. Danghangpo Tourist Site: Dinosaur Expo

(About 4 hours)

Our visit happened to fall during the 2025 Dinosaur World Expo, so there was even more to see.

Expo exhibits

Built on Goseong’s history and nature rather than trendy content, it was educational for kids too.

* Life-size turtle ship and panokseon models: historic elements of an Imjin War site are well preserved.

* 4D/5D theater: immersive films with motion effects.

* Dinosaur parade: an interactive performance the kids loved.

With or without the Expo, Danghangpo, where history, nature and dinosaurs meet, is worth a visit.

4. Rainbow Coastal Road and Turtle Ship Welcome Path at Night

Rainbow Coastal Road at night

(Walk, 1.5 hours)

On the first evening of our Goseong two-day trip, we walked around Danghangpo again.

Lit coastal path

The Rainbow Coastal Road, painted along the shoreline, looks completely different at night with lights.

Photo spots like Admiral Yi Sun-sin boards and turtle ship sculptures invite you to pause for pictures.

Quiet waterfront

It isn’t over-decorated, which felt like a strength. Recommended for anyone who loves quiet seaside night walks.

5. Dinner: Gongnyong Gogi Saeu

Seafood restaurant

A seafood restaurant with a simple menu.

Grilled shrimp
Buttered shrimp heads

The grilled shrimp was clean and sweet, and the shrimp heads grilled with butter were memorable. It felt like a place that sticks to the basics, not a commercial tourist seafood joint.

6. Stay: Sunamjip

Day 2: Goseong’s Nature and an Educational Eco Experience

1. Morning Walk on the Danghang Bay Trail

(1 hour)

Day two of our Goseong two-day trip started on the same route as the night before, but Goseong’s sea felt completely different in the morning.

The water was so still it looked like a lake, and the Rainbow Coastal Road glowed softly in the sun.

2. Dumbeong Hide-and-Seek: The November 9 Eco Program

Madongho Dumbeong Experience Center

(Madongho Goseong Dumbeong Experience Center, about 2 hours)

The program had real educational value and was very satisfying for kids.

A dumbeong isn’t just a puddle; it’s a traditional water-storage pond linking farming and nature, part of local culture.

Fish traps

Main activities

* Traditional net experience (observing fish the old way)

It followed the same methods local elders used, which made it meaningful as a lesson.

Digital microscope
Magnified insects

* Digital microscope

Magnifying collected insects fascinated the kids.

Snack time

* Eco-friendly snacks (blue eggs and sikhye) and insect hunting

Snacks made from Goseong produce tied naturally into the program.

Insect hunting

The dumbeong program differs from flashy attractions, but it’s a great educational way to learn local ecology and farming culture.
