Shizuoka means one thing above all: Mount Fuji. If you’re planning a trip to Japan, it pays to know where to see this World Heritage icon at its best. I visited in January 2025 and rounded up the top spots for Mount Fuji views.

Shizuoka is one of the regions where Mount Fuji looks most beautiful, with plenty of observation decks and natural spots offering stunning scenery.

Here are six of the best places in Shizuoka for Mount Fuji views:
- Clear viewpoints of Mount Fuji
- Must-visit photo spots
- Great for relaxing and family trips

1. Yume no Ohashi Bridge: Mount Fuji at a Glance

It’s already a famous Mount Fuji photo spot on social media, where lots of people take their best travel shots. If you want a photo with Mount Fuji in the background, don’t miss it.

Go first thing in the morning and you can take photos without a long wait. I arrived around 9 a.m. and shot from the pedestrian bridge on the opposite side, so there was no line at all.
Take a taxi from Fuji Station and ask for Yume no Ohashi; as of 2025 the fare was about 11,000 won.

Next we headed to Fujinomiya Station, where Mount Fuji appears all over town. There are many viewpoints around here.
2. Lake Tanuki: Mount Fuji Reflected in the Water

Lake Tanuki is famous for its upside-down reflection of Mount Fuji.

On windless days, Mount Fuji is mirrored perfectly on the surface, creating a magical scene.

In April and August you can see Diamond Fuji, when the sun sits right on the summit, which makes it even more special.

- See Mount Fuji reflected in the lake
- A top spot for Diamond Fuji
- A peaceful place to unwind
3. Shiraito Falls: Nature With Mount Fuji
Here you can enjoy the falls and Mount Fuji together. Nearby is the Wakitamagawa spring, known for its crystal-clear water, where you can taste cool spring water surrounded by nature.

The waterfall itself is beautiful, but the view of Mount Fuji from around Shiraito is truly spectacular.

- Relax amid magnificent natural scenery
- Clean spring water flowing down from Mount Fuji
- Quiet walking trails
4. Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre: Learn Fuji’s History

The Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre isn’t just a viewpoint but a museum about the mountain’s history and culture. Its distinctive design reflects Mount Fuji in the glass, which is very striking.

If you want to understand Mount Fuji’s history and meaning rather than just look at it, this is the place. You can learn why it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and explore a range of exhibits in one spot.

Inside are exhibits on the history of climbing Fuji, videos and much more, so it’s worth stopping by during your trip.
- Architecture that reflects Mount Fuji
- A place to learn about Fuji’s history and culture
- A gift shop for souvenirs
5. Around Fujinomiya Station: City Views of Mount Fuji
The area around Fujinomiya Station has a local Japanese feel with Mount Fuji as a backdrop. It’s especially famous for Fujinomiya yakisoba, which has chewier noodles than regular yakisoba.

Fujinomiya Sengen Shrine also has great Mount Fuji views and is a nice place to experience traditional Japanese culture.
- Try Fujinomiya yakisoba
- A city walk with Mount Fuji as the backdrop
- Visit Fujinomiya Sengen Shrine
6. Nihondaira Yume Terrace: A 360-Degree Panorama
Nihondaira Yume Terrace is an observation deck with 360-degree panoramic Mount Fuji views. On clear days you can see as far as the Izu Peninsula and Suruga Bay.

There’s a cafe inside, perfect for tea with a view of Mount Fuji. Unfortunately, it was cloudy when we visited, so Fuji was hard to see.

The modern interior and traditional garden make it a lovely place for a stroll, and the cafe is a relaxing spot to enjoy the mountain over a cup of tea.

Tips for Mount Fuji Views in Shizuoka
- Go on a clear day: clouds can hide Mount Fuji completely.
- Check sunrise and sunset times: timing matters if you want to see Diamond Fuji.
- Bring a camera: a wide-angle lens captures Fuji’s scale best.
