When planning a Shizuoka trip, few things shape your satisfaction like where you stay. In a region where you travel both around the city and to nearby areas, your base camp changes everything.
The Hotel Citio Shizuoka was a masterstroke.
Transport, shopping, convenience, room condition and staff service were all excellent, and it had exactly what travelers need.
1. Why “One Minute From the Station” Isn’t an Exaggeration

The perfect location for any Shizuoka itinerary
The biggest advantage we felt was the hotel’s unbeatable location. Many hotels claim a good location, but Hotel Citio Shizuoka really is less than a minute’s walk from the station. Step out of Shin-Shizuoka Station
A transport hub

and the hotel is right there. The less time you spend dragging luggage, the more energy you have for sightseeing, and this hotel nails that.
* Shin-Shizuoka Station (1-minute walk)
Shizuoka Railway makes trips to Shimizu Port, Nihondaira and other nearby areas easy.
* JR Shizuoka Station (7-minute walk)
Excellent Shinkansen access to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.
The distance is easy even with a suitcase.
* Airport bus stop (right in front of the hotel)
For Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport, you can board right outside.
This is a big plus for families, and on departure day we had zero stress.
Shopping and convenience: 100 points

Within 100 meters of Hotel Citio Shizuoka are Don Quijote, drugstores, a large mall, restaurants and cafes.
* Cenova shopping mall:

a large complex connected to Shin-Shizuoka Station
* Drugstore on the hotel’s ground floor: open late and super convenient
* Don Quijote: easy shopping for snacks and souvenirs

* McDonald’s, ramen shops and izakayas: no worries about meals
In one line: it sits right at the transport and shopping heart of Shizuoka.
2. Rooms That Combine Location, Value and Comfort

2016 renovation, Simmons beds and a quiet interior
You might expect a budget hotel to have uncomfortable beds or thin walls, but Hotel Citio Shizuoka was renovated in 2016

and the whole building was spotless, with rooms more pleasant than expected.
Plush Simmons beds

After a long journey, the bedding was the first thing I checked, and it exceeded expectations.
* Simmons beds in every room
* Excellent mattress support that really relieves fatigue
* Fresh, well-kept pillows and duvets
On a tiring travel day with our child, the good sleep fully restored us for the next day.

Spacious for a Japanese business hotel
Japanese business hotels are often cramped, but this one didn’t feel tight.
* A 24-inch suitcase opens fully
* Open suitcases don’t block the way
* Wall storage keeps luggage tidy
* Kettle, mini fridge, TV and Wi-Fi provided
Heating warms up quickly in winter, a real plus if you’ve suffered in underheated Japanese hotels.
Small but well-equipped bathroom
The bathroom is standard business-hotel size, but very clean.
* Electronic bidet
* Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and toothbrushes
* Towels changed daily
* No bathtub, but steady shower pressure
Some reviews say the shower booth is tight, but I had no trouble.
3. Thoughtful Service for Travelers

Luggage storage, laundry and a relaxed 11 a.m. checkout
Hotel Citio Shizuoka takes care of the small things you really need.
Friendly luggage service
This impressed me most.
* Luggage storage before check-in
* Storage after checkout too
* Bags left before check-in were brought up to our room, which truly touched me
Moving luggage with a child is exhausting, and this service removed that stress.
Laundry for long stays

The 7th floor has coin washers and dryers, essential for long trips or families with kids.
An ice water dispenser on the same floor provides cold water anytime.

11 a.m. checkout
Most Japanese business hotels check out at 10, but this one allows 11.
That gives you a relaxed morning.
I grabbed breakfast at the McDonald’s next door and left without rushing.
Security
* 24-hour front desk
* Elevators work only with a room key
* Access control on every floor
Solo female travelers can feel especially safe.
Hotel Citio Shizuoka scores high on location, value, comfort and friendly service.
It’s the best choice for itineraries with lots of train travel and for travelers mixing shopping and sightseeing.
I’d absolutely stay again on my next Shizuoka trip.
