Paris Bound With My Mom: Departure Day and Arrival in Paris

Paris arrival: Incheon Airport departure

It was June 6, 2014. We set off on a Europe trip with just my mom for her 60th birthday. My mom loves traveling! But she’d never been to Europe, so this is a belated post, two years later! I got tired uploading the Europe trip from 10 years ago too, so I’ll save that for memories later. Let’s start with our Paris arrival story!

Ready for the Europe trip

We researched everything before the trip, which agency and what budget, and went on a package tour. First day of the trip. We met the guide at the airport. Luckily we gathered at the airport! Sometimes on package tours the guide joins from the airport, sometimes at arrival. Luckily ours came from the airport, which was reassuring. June in Korea is a bit warm but long sleeves are fine, so I was relieved. But if you’re going to Europe in June, it’s extremely hot, so definitely bring short sleeves.

My airport fashion! I wore long sleeves and got to enjoy the sweltering heat upon arriving in France. Never relax because it’s early June!

Waiting with my mom, taking photos and playing before check-in. Not yet checked in.

Then through check-in, inside waiting to board.

Finally boarding! We flew Asiana.

Asiana in-flight meal! Asiana is known for bibimbap!! I found Asiana’s in-flight meals tasty.

Finally the plane departed, and seeing Incheon far away, bye!!!! After the boring 12-hour flight, our Paris arrival at Charles de Gaulle Airport came around 8 pm!

Arriving in Paris

France being France, even the airport is gray. It suddenly reminded me of Paris. Maybe rush hour, or Parisians heading out for Friday night, but there were many cars on the road. A gray but exciting Paris arrival.

Traffic into Paris

The line of cars into Paris was enormous. Since housing is expensive in Paris, most workers commute from the suburbs, so traffic is no joke, they say. What amazed me in Europe was that at 8 pm the sun blazed like midday. So amazing!!! Around 10-11 the sun set, and by midnight we could see the night view. In Paris summer, you need iron stamina to see the night view. In fall and winter the days are short, so you see it quickly.

Prices, hours and details in this post are from our visit in September 2016 and may have changed, so check the latest information before you go.
