Nakasu Yatai in Fukuoka: Night Food Stalls by Nakasu River

Nakasu Yatai in Fukuoka

I had gone to Shoraku for a motsunabe set, but the line was long, so I just went down to Hakata Station’s underground mall and decided to eat Japanese udon.

Nakasu yatai: Udon at Hakata Station

I do not even know what shop it was. Just hungry, so I went into whatever I saw.

Mom and I settled in. Mom and I looked suddenly exhausted.

Tired after shopping

I ordered an udon set, mom ordered soba. It was tasty.

Udon set

Hakata Station map. Going outside, I walked straight following Google Maps. They said the Nakasu yatai night market was near Nakasu River. This is Canal City.

Canal City

Even past Canal City, it did not appear. Suddenly it started raining heavily. I bought an umbrella on the way and kept walking. No matter how I searched, it did not appear, so I started asking passing Japanese youngsters about the night market. They said it was quite a walk. Naver said it was nearby. I finally found it and went, but was disappointed.

Searching for Nakasu yatai

It was just food stalls. Nothing grand, just a few. Maybe they did not come out because of the rain, or were not open.

The nearby Nakasu River was pretty, so snap!

Mom was really struggling. Her legs hurt, so I switched her shoes.

Changing shoes

Mom’s newly bought pants got all wet.

Rainy Nakasu

Snapping a photo with Nakasu River as the backdrop. This alone looks peaceful, but the rain was truly like the sky had opened. I came back disappointed from the Nakasu yatai.
