Haneul Park Silver Grass in Seoul: 2026 Seoul Eulalia Festival Guide With Kids

Silver grass fields at Haneul Park in autumn

If you want to see autumn silver grass (eulalia) properly in Seoul, Haneul Park in Sangam is the place. You can reach it by public transport, yet at the top a vast field of silver grass makes you forget you’re in the city.

In 2026, the 25th Seoul Eulalia (Silver Grass) Festival runs October 17–23, 2026, right at peak season — a perfect pick for October in Seoul.

1. Why Haneul Park Is Seoul’s Top Silver Grass Spot

If silver grass is your goal, one proper visit to Haneul Park beats hopping between spots.

The park has about 94,000 m² of silver grass. It sits about 100 m above sea level, but the top is wide and flat, perfect for strolling between the grasses.

In autumn, head-high silver grass lines both sides of the paths, looking silver or gold depending on the light.

It’s not just grass: viewpoints look out over Seongsan Bridge, World Cup Bridge and downtown Seoul. Seeing silver grass and the city skyline together is what sets Haneul Park apart.

2. 2026 Seoul Eulalia Festival Dates

  • Event: 25th Seoul Eulalia Festival
  • Dates: Saturday, October 17 – Friday, October 23, 2026
  • Hours: 10:00–21:00
  • Venue: Haneul Park, World Cup Park

The 2026 theme is “Silver Grass: Comfort From Nature.”

Normally Haneul Park is about daytime walks, but during the festival you can stay into the night. See the grass’s color by day and lights with Seoul night views after dark — arrive in the late afternoon and stay through sunset.

The official guide describes it as an eco-cultural festival using lighting along with the silver grass scenery.

3. Visiting Haneul Park With Kids

Haneul Park is a great choice with kids, but getting to the top is the key.

Stairs leading up to Haneul Park

You don’t see the grass right next to the station or parking lot. From World Cup Stadium Station or Mapo-gu Office Station (Line 6), allow about 40 minutes on foot.

There’s a direct stairway — the east Sky Stairs has 331 steps. Elementary schoolers can manage it, but with little ones, stairs both ways can be tough.

Instead, take the Maengkkongi electric shuttle from the Nanjicheon Park parking lot, which Seoul also recommends. Ride up and walk down slowly.

Once at the top, the paths through the grass are fairly flat.

4. What to See With Kids

Don’t just loop the silver grass field — see a few more spots.

First, the “Sky Bowl” and viewpoints. Kids sometimes enjoy the views of the Han River and city even more than the grass.

Second, the trails between the grass. Haneul Park is part of World Cup Park, built by restoring the former Nanjido landfill. Telling kids “this used to be a garbage dump” opens up a great conversation about the environment.

Third, festival programs. During the festival (October 17–23), a “Re-born Market” on resource recycling runs 14:30–18:30, with products made from park materials like silver grass, plus zero-waste and gardening items.

As of October 4, the full 2026 children’s program schedule hasn’t been published, so check the Seoul Parks official website closer to the date for final programs and reservations.

5. When Is the Silver Grass at Its Best?

The silver grass at Haneul Park looks best in autumn; with the festival set for October 17–23, aim for mid-October onward.

Golden silver grass at sunset

For photos, go in the late afternoon. By day the grass looks whitish, but as the sun lowers, the tips catch the light and turn golden. Sunset is better for photos than full dark.

With night operation during the festival, arrive around 4–5 p.m. and stay through sunset. Weekends will be crowded, and Seoul recommends public transport.

6. Parking and Getting There

By car, the Nanjicheon Park lot or other lots around World Cup Park are the usual options.

World Cup Park’s official guide lists Peace Park and Nanjicheon Park lots as the main options; Nanjicheon is convenient for the electric shuttle.

During the festival, though, skip the car. The official guide recommends Line 6 to World Cup Stadium or Mapo-gu Office Station due to traffic.

Wear comfortable shoes with kids — there’s a fair bit of walking.

7. How Much Time to Allow

A quick loop of the silver grass takes 1–1.5 hours, plus the trip up from the parking lot or station.

With kids, the viewpoint and photos, allow 2–3 hours in total. For festival programs or sunset and night views, plan half a day.

8. Nearby Places to Visit

Rather than driving elsewhere, explore the rest of World Cup Park.

Peace Park

Just below Haneul Park, with Nanji Pond and wide lawns — great for a rest with kids before or after. World Cup Park is made up of Peace Park, Haneul Park, Noeul Park and Nanjicheon Park, so treat it as one big park.

Oil Tank Culture Park

Within walking distance of World Cup Stadium Station, this former oil reserve base turned cultural space pairs well with Haneul Park: nature restoration and industrial regeneration in one day, great for elementary schoolers. It’s about 10 minutes from exits 2 and 3.

For silver grass in Seoul, Haneul Park is big enough that you don’t need to compare. With the Seoul Eulalia Festival on October 17–23, 2026, put it first on your October list. With kids, add the viewpoint and the story of World Cup Park’s restoration.

If walking is a concern, use the electric shuttle, and if you have time, stay from afternoon through sunset.
