Our family flew to Jeju for a snowy Christmas in December. Snow and flight cancellations almost kept us from getting there, but we made it in the end. A cafe tour is a must in Jeju, so here’s Ruddy’s Cafe, a large cafe in Seogwipo.

The parking lot is huge, and the cafe spreads over two floors.

Cute dol hareubang stone statues greeted us at the entrance, so the fun started right away. A big cafe like this is a great stop if you’re traveling around Seogwipo. Let’s head inside.

The red door is the signature of Ruddy’s Cafe. As of 2023, it was open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 9:50 p.m., with last orders at 9:30 p.m. Salt bread comes out at 10 a.m. and the stone-wall anbutter bread at 11 a.m. These are the house specialties, so be sure to try them.

From 6 p.m., baked goods were 50% off, so if you visit late, grab some bread.

The entrance is a pretty photo spot too, so snap a picture on your way in.

As you’d expect from a big bakery cafe, there’s a huge selection: cakes, all kinds of bread and cookies.

I wanted to try everything, and the salt bread is especially good.

Ruddy’s Cafe also sells craft beer. I was curious, but it was daytime and I was driving, so I’ll try it next time when we stay nearby.

The coffee menu is so long it’s hard to choose. Since Yans was with us, we ordered one drink and one coffee: the signature apple peach iced tea and an einspänner. The coffee here is on the acidic side.

We visited just before Christmas, so a giant tree greeted us. There are plenty of tables, and every seat has a great view through the big windows.

Every seat at Ruddy’s Cafe is pretty.

On the first floor, there’s a tangerine orchard right outside. Ruddy’s Cafe is dog-friendly too, and the owner’s dog was very gentle.

We went up to the second floor, which has views of the Seogwipo sea in the distance and Hallasan on the other side. Both are stunning.

It was winter and snowing, so we didn’t sit outside, but on a warm spring day the terrace would be lovely. The sea in the distance looked magical.

The overall atmosphere is grand and antique, with charming decor everywhere.

I mentioned the Hallasan view: snowy Hallasan sits right in front of you. I’d never seen it this close, and it was one of my favorite things about the cafe.

Back on the first floor, we went out to the tangerine orchard. I thought we’d leave Jeju without seeing one, so it was a nice surprise.

The sea, tangerines, stone walls and palm trees: it’s Jeju all in one place.

The garden has outdoor tables, good for groups, and dogs can run around. It’s a yes-kids zone too, so it’s easy to visit with children.

If you sit outside, they lend you blankets, so you can enjoy coffee outdoors even on a chilly day.

The buzzer went off soon after, as orders didn’t take long.

The tiramisu looked so unusual that we ordered it too. Doesn’t it look tasty?

As mentioned, our drinks were the einspänner and the apple peach iced tea.

With pink on top, white in the middle and brown at the bottom, the signature drink is so pretty.

We sat by the Christmas tree. Few cafes in Seogwipo have a big tree like this, so it’s worth a visit in the holiday season.

Yans perked up once the drinks arrived. The iced tea was a great choice: not sour and not too sweet, perfect for kids. If your child doesn’t drink soda yet, this is the one to order.

While Yans enjoyed his drink, I had the einspänner and tiramisu. The cream was smooth, and the tiramisu was beautifully moist.

If you’re visiting Seogwipo and looking for a cafe with both sea and Hallasan views, try Ruddy’s Cafe. Delicious bakes and drinks make it a treat for all the senses.
