I’m sharing our visit with our child to Seomjingang Train Village in Gokseong, South Jeolla Province.

It isn’t just a theme park; it felt like a time-travel space that’s an exciting adventure for kids and an unforgettable memory for adults.
What Is Seomjingang Train Village?

Seomjingang Train Village is Korea’s only train theme park, built by reusing the old Gokseong Station and track that were relocated when the Jeolla Line was double-tracked in 1999.
The old station building from 1933 and the scenery of the Seomjin River together make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

Top 4 Things to Do With Kids
1. Steam train ride, a romantic train along the Seomjin River

- Route: Gokseong Train Village to Gajeong Station (20 km round trip)
- Duration: about 75 minutes (including a 15-minute stop at Gajeong Station)
- Highlights: a tourist train restored from a real steam locomotive that travels slowly along the river,
with views of green fields and the river.
- Tip: during the stop at Gajeong Station, walk across the Seomjin River suspension bridge and enjoy the breeze.
Tip: weekend tickets sell out fast, so book online in advance.
2. Dreamland, an amusement park full of kids’ laughter

- Rides: about nine rides including a Ferris wheel, carousel, Viking ship and mini train
- Highlights: not as thrilling as a big amusement park, but sized perfectly for toddlers and elementary kids,
with lots of cute rides that make it popular with families.
- Photo spot: be sure to ride the Ferris wheel!

You’ll see the whole Train Village at a glance.
3. Chichippuppu Playground and 4D theater

- Chichippuppu Playground: an indoor play space themed on a choo-choo world trip,
where kids learn about the history and workings of trains.

Kids can learn by touching and moving things with their own hands.
- 4D theater: a family theater with 3D images plus wind and vibration effects,
giving kids a fresh visual thrill.
4. Magic Land and the animal farm
- Magic Land: an exhibition themed on Gokseong’s goblin legends and General Ma Cheon-mok,
combining media art and lighting to spark kids’ curiosity.
- Animal farm: meet rabbits, ostriches, goats, donkeys and more,
and feed them too, which kids love.
Top 3 Photo Spots for Every Season
1. Rose Garden

A large garden planted with about 1,004 varieties of roses; during the Gokseong World Rose Festival in May,
the whole park is filled with flowers. With rose tunnels and many photo zones, it’s perfect for family photos.
2. Old Gokseong Station and steam train platform
A modern cultural heritage site built in 1933, its old-fashioned look is great for retro photos.
3. Metasequoia Road
A long tunnel of trees along the Train Village walking path,
green in spring and golden in autumn, beautiful in every season.
