Suncheonman Bay National Garden and Wetland in One Day with Kids: Parking, Fares and Route

Suncheonman Bay National Garden lake garden

To see Suncheonman Bay National Garden and Suncheonman Bay Wetland in one day with kids, park at the garden and take a round-trip Sky Cube. With younger kids in midsummer, though, either spend about three hours at the garden alone or ride the Sky Cube without pushing on to the Yongsan Observatory at the wetland.

How They Differ

World gardens at the National Garden

Suncheonman Bay National Garden is for walking through world gardens, themed gardens and kids’ facilities. Suncheonman Bay Wetland is a nature-learning spot for observing reed beds and tidal flat ecology.

They’re about 7 km apart, but a garden ticket also covers same-day entry to the wetland. Re-entry is allowed once a day with a stamp at the exit.

Admission and Family Costs

Admission to Suncheonman Bay National Garden is 10,000 won for adults, 7,000 won for teens and 5,000 won for children, so two adults and one elementary child pay 25,000 won.

Sky Cube station

A round-trip Sky Cube costs 8,000 won for adults and teens and 6,000 won for children, adding 22,000 won for a family of three, for 47,000 won in total.

Sky Cube pods over the reeds

Sky Cube tickets are sold only to garden visitors, so you can’t ride it on its own.

Hours and the Monday Trap

Suncheonman Bay National Garden entrance

From July to September, the garden is open 9 a.m.–8 p.m., with last entry at 7 p.m. It closes on the last Monday of each month.

From March to October, the Sky Cube’s first car leaves at 10 a.m. and the last from Garden Station at 6 p.m. The Sky Cube closes every Monday (the next day if Monday is a holiday), a different rule from the garden.

Family Route

Lake garden walking path

Park at the garden at 8:40 a.m., enter the east gate at 9, see the lake and world gardens, walk to Garden Station at 10:30, ride the Sky Cube to Suncheonman Station, take the reed train or walk to Mujingyo Bridge, explore the reed path briefly, return to the garden before 2 p.m., rest over lunch and coffee, pick a kids’ facility or photo spot, and wrap up before 5 p.m.

Reed train at Suncheonman Bay Wetland

Sky Cube riders get a free reed train between Suncheonman Station and the wetland; check whether it’s running and wait times on the day.

Parking and Public Transport

Suncheonman Bay National Garden parking lot

Parking at Suncheonman Bay National Garden is free. The wetland lot charges 3,000 won for cars and 5,000 won for large vehicles, with 50% off for compact cars under certain conditions.

Driving separately means paying to park again at the wetland. Families taking the Sky Cube round trip can leave the car at the garden.

Garden entrance plaza

From Suncheon Station, take a taxi or city bus to the garden, but routes change, so check the official directions and Suncheon bus info on the day.

Tips with Kids

Bring hats, parasols, water, sunscreen, insect repellent, non-slip sneakers and a light jacket. Shade is far apart in both places, so a stroller or handheld fan helps.

Reed beds at Suncheonman Bay Wetland

At the wetland, tell kids not to step onto the mudflats or chase wildlife. Binoculars and a small nature notebook make it more engaging.

Food and Cafés

Café inside the National Garden

Eating inside the garden or near the east and west gates saves travel. Shops and last orders vary by season, so check signs after entering.

You’ll get plenty of photos in the lake and world gardens and on the reed path. Save one café for the end to let kids rest.

Estimated Costs

Suncheonman Bay National Garden flower beds

Garden admission and round-trip Sky Cube for two adults and one elementary child total 47,000 won.

Add 70,000–120,000 won for meals and snacks, 20,000–40,000 won for cafés and transport, for about 130,000–220,000 won per day. Skipping the Sky Cube saves 22,000 won.

Pros and Cons

Pros: Suncheonman Bay National Garden links gardens, ecology and a fun ride in one day, with free parking. The Sky Cube itself is a highlight for kids.

Mujingyo Bridge over the wetland

Cons: both sites are large with long walks, and you need to keep checking Sky Cube queues and last cars. Monday closures differ by facility.

Things to Note

Wooden deck through the reeds

In a heat wave, skip the walk to the Yongsan Observatory. Rain, wind or maintenance can stop the Sky Cube and reed train, so check official status on the day.
