Yakiniku Haruka in Osaka: A Local-Favorite A5 Wagyu Spot Near Namba

Yakiniku Haruka

This is the story of Yakiniku Haruka near Namba Station in Osaka, where I tasted real wagyu.

Restaurant entrance

Namba and Dotonbori have countless barbecue restaurants, but authentic yakiniku places that local foodies prefer over tourists are rare.

Stepping away from crowded Dotonbori, I happened upon a spot in an alley near Ebisucho Station:

Yakiniku Haruka.

Yakiniku Haruka: A Real Meat Spot in Osaka’s Namba

* Location: 1-minute walk from Ebisucho Station on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line

* About 10–15 minutes on foot from Namba Station, tucked in a quiet alley just off the busy center.

* Every seat is a semi-private booth with a smokeless grill, so your clothes don’t smell of smoke, which I especially liked.

Semi-private booth

The atmosphere is upscale, but prices were surprisingly reasonable.

It has a reputation among locals as a place to enjoy A5 Kuroge wagyu at a fair price.

4 Reasons to Love Yakiniku Haruka

1. Premium quality with A5 Kuroge wagyu only

The tender meat melts the moment it hits your tongue, with a clearly deeper flavor.

They insist on A5 wagyu that passes strict grading even within Japan.

2. Outstanding value for the set

The course lineup is excellent.

You can try many cuts at once, including harami (skirt), tanmoto (tongue root) and premium kalbi.

3. Comfortable space and service

Each table is a semi-private booth, so privacy is well protected,

and the smokeless grills keep meat smells away, which female diners especially appreciated.

4. Close to Namba yet quiet

It’s near Namba Station but not hectic, a perfect spot for a relaxed meal on a trip.

Menu Review: What I Tried

Variety course

I chose the Variety Course with all-you-can-drink included.

Beyond the meat itself, the balanced course structure stood out.

* Premium kalbi: Juices sizzle on the grill, and it melts away in your mouth.

Premium kalbi

* Harami (skirt): Tender yet chewy. The marinade is light, so the wagyu flavor shines.

Harami

* Beef tongue: Haruka’s signature. The thick-cut tongue has an amazing texture.

* Kimchi and raw senmai: Crunchy kimchi and fresh tripe perfectly cut the richness of the wagyu.

Tip!

The special sauce is good, but to taste the meat itself, try salt with wasabi.

Wagyu on the grill

The first bite releases tender, melting juices.

This must be what umami really means.

Glossy wagyu

Lifting the meat with chopsticks as it turns glossy on the grill,

Dipping in salt

then dipping it lightly in salt,

the meat’s savory flavor lingers long in your mouth.

3 Rare Cuts Locals Know to Order at Yakiniku Haruka

Rare cuts

1. Misuji (top blade)

A rare cut from the upper shoulder with gorgeous marbling.

Sear both sides lightly to enjoy the melt-in-your-mouth texture.

2. Zabuton (chuck flap)

A rich, steak-like beefy flavor with a soft layer of fat.

Put it on warm rice for an instant wagyu bowl!

3. Premium thick-cut tongue

Cut much thicker than regular tongue, it has a satisfying chew.

Grill it and add a squeeze of lemon for a clean, elegant finish.
