Yeije Ganjang Gejang in Geoje: All-You-Can-Eat Marinated Crab Set Meal

If raw crab is your love language, Geoje has a spot worth knowing. Yeije Ganjang Gejang Baekban in Jangseungpo is famous for its marinated crab set meals, and for anyone hunting down Geoje ganjang gejang, this is the address to remember. The big draw is unlimited refills on soy-marinated crab, spicy-marinated crab, and soy-marinated shrimp.

Finding Yeije in Jangseungpo

Parking right in front is tight, so we left the car by the Jangseungpo passenger terminal and walked across the street to the restaurant.

The main branch was already full at lunch, but the second and third branches sit right next door, with another branch near Windy Hill, so we simply walked into branch two.

What lands on the table

An adult set costs 14,000 won at the time of our visit, and plates of gejang arrived fast as soon as we sat down. Grilled fish came out too, which my husband praised, though refills of the grilled fish cost 5,000 won extra.

The soy-marinated crab looked modest in portion, but with unlimited refills on ganjang gejang, yangnyeom gejang, and ganjang saeu, nobody leaves hungry. I am strictly a soy-marinated crab person, so I went through three plates of ganjang gejang and left the spicy version after the first plate.

Chungmu gimbap and sea urchin soup rounded out the meal. The gimbap tasted far better than the one we had in Tongyeong, and the sea urchin soup carried a clean ocean fragrance that explained the restaurant’s reputation.

Good to know

One honest note: this is not flower crab. Yeije uses smaller three-spot crabs, which is how the price stays low. The meat is a little less abundant than flower crab, but still tasty. Some blogs mention a cash discount, but when we paid cash there was none, so expect the same price either way.

For Geoje ganjang gejang lovers, Yeije is an easy recommendation: generous refills, quick service, and a proper taste of the region.

Prices, hours and details in this post are from our visit in August 2016 and may have changed, so check the latest information before you go.
