2017 Seoul Motor Show at KINTEX: Kia Stinger Debut and Highlights

2017 Seoul Motor Show at KINTEX: Kia Stinger Debut and Highlights

My husband and I often visit exhibitions at KINTEX or COEX. He is a huge car fan, and this time he was also in the season to change cars. The Kia Stinger was making its Korean debut, so we hurried out early in the morning with pounding hearts.

Show Information (2017 Edition)

  • Dates: March 31 (Fri) to April 9 (Sun), 2017

We booked online and visited on Sunday, April 2. We arrived early in the morning, but the crowds were enormous. There was nowhere to park, so we just parked anywhere at KINTEX and went in. We were more interested in new cars than supercars, so we headed straight for Exhibition Hall 1.

The line was long, but entry moved quickly. As soon as we got in, we rushed toward our goal.

The Kia Stinger: Our Main Target

My husband’s biggest interest: the Kia Stinger. Honestly, seeing it was why we came all this way.

Colors came in red, violet, black, yellow, and white. My husband’s favorite was the red Stinger. The yellow Stinger was pretty but seemed less mainstream.

We wished we could see the interior, but since it was a pre-release car, the interior was off-limits. A pity.

More Booths: Lincoln, Peugeot, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche

The Seoul Motor Show also had various VR experiences. We thought about trying, but there were too many people, so we skipped.

The monster car from Lincoln, the Navigator concept car. The car was impressive, and the racing model had a refreshingly natural style.

There was plenty more to see. My husband knew every car, while I, a car novice, just went “pretty” and “wow.”

The Peugeot booth. The Peugeot 3008 came out too pricey, which was a shame. Below it, the Peugeot 5008.

Then the Mercedes-Benz booth, which drew the biggest crowd by far.

Then the Porsche booth. My husband said this was the car he would have driven if he had not married me. He gave up a lot of his car dreams after marrying me.

We also snapped the cute CamSys cars.

Our weekend trip to the Seoul Motor Show took about two hours to cover most of it. With the crowds and few places to sit, two hours of browsing was just right for us.

Dates, hours and ticket prices in this guide are as of the 2017 edition. Check the official website for the latest information and future editions before you go.
