Jeju Food Shortlist Part 2: Fusion Dishes
Starting my babymoon route planning for our Jeju trip. Putting this together, my heart was already in Jeju. This time: Jeju fusion dishes, part of our Jeju food research. This Jeju food shortlist covers the fusion side.
- Jjamppong in Trouble (Jeju City): the name sounds like just a jjamppong place, but they serve a special galbi jjamppong. Huge portions loaded with galbi and seafood. I am not personally a jjamppong fan, so I debated whether to go. 7,500 won, which feels cheap compared to Jeju prices where ramen costs 9,000 won.

- Black pork tacos (Gujwa): an unusual spot for black pork tacos. Perfect for daytime drinking, though I could not drink. Black pork tacos 9,600 won, Corona Rita 10,000 won.

- Black pork croquettes (Olle Market): the famous Olle Market specialty. Jeju seems full of black pork fusion dishes. Good for takeaway.

- Season Box (Namwon): black pork rice bowls. Black pork rice bowl 8,000 won, Jeju handmade pork cutlet 10,000 won. My husband the pork-cutlet killer would love it. They also sell black pork croquettes here, 5,000 won.

- Shrimp Box (food truck): Jeju’s hot food truck. Plump chili shrimp rice bowl, best enjoyed facing the sea. No map since it is a food truck. Said to be in Pyeongdae, with a Jeju shop opening, grand opening slated for May 17. Since we go on the 20th, I might catch it.

- Gongsaemi 59 (Namwon): black pork soy sauce rice bowl and sweet shrimp rice bowl. 8,000 won a meal. Also serves bomal kalguksu.

- Jeju’s Blue Night (Gujwa): a heartfelt black pork cutlet house. Another pork cutlet spot for my husband, top priority. I will have to try half and half when I go.

Part 2 of the route planning ended up short. In part 3 I will map out braised cutlassfish, ttukbaegi, bomal kalguksu, abalone dishes, and black pork houses. More Jeju food to come.
